MARINE PATROL UNIT
The Lake Stevens Police Department's Marine Patrol Unit was started in the summer of 1991. This Unit is staffed by City of Lake Stevens Commissioned Officers that have attended the Washington State Parks Marine Patrol Basic training. This unit is supervised by a Marine Patrol Sergeant. The Officers Assigned to this unit are trained to operate a variety of vessels. We currently have 13 trained boating safety officers. There are trained boating safety officers on every patrol crew for the City of Lake Stevens. Our boats are ready to respond to a variety of emergencies 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The Unit patrols Lake Stevens, which is a 1040 acre lake. The Marine Unit is seasonal and patrols the lake four days a week from May through September.
The Lake Stevens Marine Unit has a close working relationship with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, Fire District 8 and the US Coast Guard Auxiliary.
We patrol the waters and shorelines inside the City of Lake Stevens. We respond to emergencies and calls for service on the water. We also assist and coordinate several events on the Lake, for example: Several rowing regattas, a Primer Events 70.3 iron man Triathlon, the annual Lake Stevens Aquafest Events that include a $50.00 Boat Race, Quadrathon, Water Ski Competition, Wake Board Competition, water ski show, boat parade and 2 fireworks shows. The Lake Stevens Marine unit teaches the Washington boater safety education course in order to operate a boat in Washington State. This course is scheduled four times a year prior to the boating season.
The Lake Stevens boating program promotes enjoyable, safe, environmentally responsible recreation on Lake Stevens.
